UPI Payment Maybe Chargeable Onward 10 July

To convert the masses to try cashless payment, Government launched UPI payments in the country last year. The aim was to simplify the payment system and transfer money from one bank to other bank through an easy process with help of mobile phones. Many banks followed Government's regulations and releases their respective UPI mobile app that facilitated users to make cashless payments while paying bills, and even buying groceries. Earlier the advantage was that it's all absolutely free but now 10 July onwards it wouldn't free anymore.

In an email which was sent by HDFC to their customers stating that "all UPI outward transactions will be chargeable from 10 July 2017". For the transaction amount Re 1 to Rs25000 the fee will be Rs3 plus taxes, and for transaction of Rs25001 to Rs100,000 fess will be Rs5 plus taxes. This email was shared on Reddit by user Gatiman.

A few other HDFC customers also get this email. If a small transaction with merchant also charged then people will prefer cash rather than online transaction.
